  3.                     SEGUE-nc TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

  5.      MORE than just another function library, SEGUE is an Application
  6. Programmers Interface (API) to Novell Networks for Clipper Programmers. 
  7. As an extension to the Clipper language, SEGUE grants the Clipper
  8. programmer full and complete control over the NetWare environment
  9. without having to leave the Clipper language.
  10.      SEGUE gives the unsophisticated programmer systems programming
  11. ability and Novell system feature access.  For all Clipper programmers,
  12. SEGUE saves enormous programming time and frustrations inherent in the
  13. development of applications for LANs.  
  14.      Programmer considerations include SEGUE's incorporation of Novell's
  15. complete extensive array of error returns; for easy error checking, most
  16. error returns are minus.
  17.      Because SEGUE was primarily developed in the Assembly language,
  18. it execution is as fast and efficient as is possible while keeping
  19. program overhead to a minimum.  As a low level interface, SEGUE provides
  20. maximum flexibility for Clipper programmers to easily write their own
  21. network function equivalences as found in other network libraries.
  22.      Supplemental source code for function equivalences corresponding
  23. to those found in other network libraries is provided to show how SEGUE
  24. can be used in writing simple and/or extensive and complex network
  25. functions and applications.
  26.      SEGUE comes with a boxed three-ring hard-cover manual with over
  27. 300 pages of diagrams, full detailed descriptions with examples,
  28. cross indexes, cross API referencing to Novell Services, and version
  29. information which make SEGUE easy for programmers to use, understand
  30. and implement.   The SEGUE API incorporates over four hundred eighty
  31. functions which include over one hundred eighty main functions and over
  32. two hundred eighty sub functions to NetWare's Bindery, Connection,
  33. Directory, File, Message, Printing, File Server, Locking & Semaphore,
  34. Transaction Tracking, and Workstation services.  For easy learning, SEGUE
  35. includes a full demo on all APIs and SUPPLEMENTAL functions with over
  36. 10,000 lines of demo source code.
  37.      Registered users receive Tech support via voice, fax, BBS and a
  38. forum on COMPUSERVE.  Source code to Supplemental Clipper functions is
  39. also available.
  40.      Some restrictions apply to Summer '87 use.  SEGUE can be used for
  41. NetWare v2.0a and above.
  42.
